Halloween Open House

Animal Medical Associates will be hosting the annual Halloween Party this year on October 28th from 5-7pm! We will have something for everyone - 2 or 4 legged!

This year we will also feature a professional photographer - with the proceeds going to support our very own Angel Fund for homeless pets! Sittings will be throughout the day on the 28th - but will be by appointment only. Plan now to get your Christmas cards photographed with your pets!

We will also have a pet costume contest with celebrity judge Alicia Bolin from WPOR's morning crew! Bring your pets in costume and prepare to win some really cool prizes! No one leaves empty handed.

We will have treats and candy for little goblins of all ages - bring the kids for some family fun and SAFE trick or treating!

Come see our haunted hospital - bring the entire family, friends, and four-legged/furred/scaled family members. We're planning a fun night for all!

Fall Collecting Fall Collecting

As you clean up your yard this winter, please remember our wildlife here at Animal Medical Associates! Dr. Mitchell is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator - it does happen that we have some wild guests staying at our facility over the winter months. If you have wild edibles in the yard, we can certainly use them! If there will be a delay before you can drop them off, please pop them in the freezer after collecting to keep them fresh. In particular, we can use acorns, black walnuts, and other wild nuts of all types, rose hips, unopened pine cones (usually slightly sticky), wild berries of all types, and any other items you see wildlife in your yard eating! Thanks so much!

Halloween Safety!

Remember that candy abounds this time of year - and is not safe for your four legged companions! Chocolate of any variety can make animals sick, however, dark chocolate is the most toxic. Be careful to keep Halloween goodies up and out of reach of your smallest family members! Also, pranksters will often target animals who are outdoors on or around Halloween Eve. Be sure to keep your pets indoors for several days before and after the holiday to be safe!

Fleas and Ticks!

This is probably one of the worst flea years on record. It is critical NOT to stop monthly flea and tick preventatives too early! We recommend monthly Frontline - which has been shown in studies to be virtually 100% effective against adult fleas! For cats, we like Revolution or Frontline. Tick season is just beginning - and until we have a solid frost, monthly preventative is a must; and year round therapy is ideal. Please call us at 282-5151 if you have any question about your pet's flea and tick prevention!
